Hallo zusammen,

am vergangenen Wochenende fanden in Stuben am Arlberg mal wieder die legendären LONGBOARD CLASSICS statt.

Eine super Veranstaltung mit allerhand wertvollen alten Boards am Berg. Nicht minder jung sind zum Teil auch die
Teilnehmer. Von ca. 25 Jahren bis 72 (!!) war alles vertreten.
Es war ein schöner Anblick als sich ca. 150 Snowboarder zeitgleich mit ihrem alten Equipment den wirklich steilen Hang
Hinunterstürzten.

Wir von Apo waren natürlich auch mit dabei und haben unser Material zum Test angeboten. Was uns wirklich auffiel
Dass sich keiner, wirklich keiner, für Boards unter 160cm interessiert hat. Dies war eine willkommene Abwechslung
zu all den anderen Test’s die wir so das ganze Jahr über anbieten.

Clay Marzo in Rolling Stones

Most of us that grew up surfing had dreamed about one or more of these things; getting a picture in the surf mags, having a cool sponsor, getting paid to surf, going on rad trip or even having a part in a surf movie. Most people would be forever happy by making the Surfer Magazine Hot 100 #2 spot, like Clay recently did but Clay Marzo has taken it to another level.

Clay just got an 8 page story in the April issue of Rolling Stone. Yup Rolling Stone magazine! Now if that isn’t frickin cool you must be from Mars. I am calling out “rock star” status here for Clay.

I really am not a big believer in too much text on blogs. I think most of us like pictures and videos. Visual stimulation seems to have the biggest impact but since this is so rad I am going to put the whole article on this, so if you like to read here it is for free.

Clay you’re the man and thanks for being on the team!

Spy Domination at the 2010 Burton US Open of Snowboarding

LOUIE GRABS 2ND AND IPOD TAKES 3RD

Once again our guys came out firing in the sunny halfpipe of the 2010 Burton US Open. After both Louie and Iouri took home medals from European X Games just a couple days before, they arrived at Stratton, Vermont ready to continue their domination this season. They have both be on almost every podium through the 2010 season.

This time it was Louie who took second and Iouri took third. Louie dropped in with a huge frontside double cork 1080, then right into the cab double cork 1080, frontside double 900, backside 900 and into a frontside 1260. Louie has been mastering that run all year, but recently added that frontside double 900. As for Iouri, he came blasting into the pipe with a huge cab double cork 1080, into a front side corked 540, then dropping the hammer with his double Mctwist 1260 right into a frontside 1080.

We here at Spy are proud of you boys, it has been an amazing contest season for both of you. Thank you for the continuing support of the brand!

We're just back from The first European X Games...with two medals.

First european X games held in europe have been an incredible show for all the crowd arrived from all around the globe.

All the eyes were focused on the Superpipe contest were all the best pipe slayers were ready to challenge their skills.

Our anti-hero I-Pod took the gold in the biggest pipe that European parks have ever seen landing a double Mctwist 12 with a 98.00 final score.

Louie brought home a bronze medal with an oustanding run featuring 3 double corks.

SPY Optic athlete and San Clemente’s free surfing fiend Mike Losness sees Taylor Steel’s newest movie project Innersection.tv as an opportunity to unleash some new footage, promote his sponsors and solidify his reputation amongst the surfing world.
Wasting no time, Mike’s freshly filmed part will be up for voting during the first cycle of Innersection, beginning Monday, March 8th. JF HOULE NABS TOP PODIUM AT EUROPEAN FREESKI OPEN

Gusty winds and heavy storms hightailed their way through the European Freeski Open forcing organizers to cancel its March 5th main freeski event in Laax, Switzerland. Alternatively organizers in the later afternoon unleashed the Stair Rail Battle down in the valley at the rockresort. Despite the last minute change up and harsh elements JF Houle crushed the comp yet again with a nose butter 450 on, pretzel 270 out.

JF has been on fire the past few weeks, also taking first in the L.A. Session at Les Arcs and 3rd at the Austrian Open at the Kitzsteinhorn Mellow Park.

"It’s been a very good trip for me. I can't ask much more then 3 podiums in 3 weeks!" says JF.

Hot off the press and ready to take on the heavy comp, the SPY all-star line up will be ready to grab gold at this year’s premier Winter X Games Europe in close to zero temps in Tignes, France March 10-12th.

Recent Vancouver Olympians, crowd pleasing favorite Louie Vito has been crushing the pipe all season while young gun Sarka Pancochova is slaying her practice runs with huge straight airs and smooth style and keep your eyes on Iouri Podladtchikov -- he’s been stomping a double Mctwist 12! For Slopestyle, Frederik Evensen will be pushing the envelope with his undivided attention to perfection of jaw dropping spins with his mellow laid back style.

Back at it, fresh off his Stair Rail Battle win from Switzerland, JF Houle will be throwing down in ski slopestyle all the while technical savvy Canadian Charles Gagnier will be ready to impress. SPY's Sarka Pancochova at Olympic´s

SPY's Sarka Pancochova from the Czech Republic will be competing in the Women's Snowboard Halfpipe competition today at Cypress Mountain in Vancouver, Canada.

The 19 year old regular stance snowboard phenom has been rising in the ranks! Standing at 5’1,” she’s a serious shredder and knows how to impress with her fluid style in the pipe. For her inaugural Winter Olympics 2010 debut she’ll be wearing the SPY Soldier.

SPY at WINTER X GAMES 14 in Aspen, Colorado TWO GOLD AND A SILVER

Congrats to Tucker for just blowing away the competition. I believe that Tucker was something like 18 seconds ahead of the pack! Here are some photos of him from practice the day before!

Spy Optic’s Adaptive Motorsports maverick, Mike Schulz, followed up his Moto X Super X Adaptive Silver Medal from the Summer 2009 X Games with a solid GOLD performance this past weekend in Winter X by winning the Snowmobile Snocross Adaptive event. If it has a motor, Monster Mike will race it!

Iouri took second last night in the Mens Superpipe Finals. After falling on his last hit of his first run Iouri was feeling the pressure. He dropped in on his second run and threw a cab double cork 1080, into a frontside 540, then into a backside 900, into frontside 1080, cab 720, into a frontside double cork 1080! The run was flawless, each trick smoother than the last. That run got Iouri a 93.00 bumping him into second place right behind Shawn White. Congrats Iouri, we are all very happy for you! Last night was a night to remember, as they announced the athletes who will be representing the U.S. in snowboarding for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver. Louie Vito was the second person to make the team with his two stellar second place finishes at the first two US Grand Prix stops. We would like to congratulate Louie on his great accomplishment. We are proud to have Louie represent our country and our eyewear at the 2010 games! Good luck in Vancouver Louie, we all will be rooting for you!
